The Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition and its members have been increasingly concerned about the current emphasis on behaviour and discipline in schools as children and young people have returned to education. Given this concern, we have written to the Education Secretary setting out why we believe punitive approaches to behaviour will be more harmful for children and young people. The letter calls for a moratorium on school exclusions and full implementation of a whole school and college approach.
