About Us

We are a coalition of leading organisations from across England, with a growing base of supporters who are passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. Through the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition, our charities come together and speak as one on behalf of children and young people’s mental health.

The Coalition was launched in the House of Lords in March 2010 and now hosted by Centre for Mental Health. We are chaired by Sir Norman Lamb and operate thanks to the generosity of Zurich Community Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, John Ellerman Foundation and The AIM Foundation (the Funders’ Alliance).

The data shows that physical health outcomes for young people with mental health problems are much poorer than their counterparts living without one. Yet health professionals are not trained to view these concerns as interlinked. We must move towards a holistic approach.

The drop-in has helped to improve partnership working between CAMHS and physical health services, co-locating vital screening services such as sexual health, dental and eye check-ups. The clinic also provided young people access to the Covid-19 vaccine.

CAMHS Wellbeing Clinic provides a weekly drop-in for young people to come in and seek advice and support around their mental health informally and confidentially. This has helped to tackle some of the stigma associated with help-seeking, especially around sexual health.
